If you look around , you will be able to find lot of places where you can read newspapers for free.Among some of the places where you can do so are the hotel lobbies. here, not only can you read more than one type of newspaper, you can do so in a relaxed atmosphere. The other places are private hospital lobbies, banks like ambank and kedai mamak(u need to eat something)

The Store Chain of supermarkets is currently celebrating its 37th anniversary in Malaysia. In conjunction with that, it is having a lucky draw from 28/5/05-4/9/05.(grand prizes- 5 Kia picanto, 1st prizes-12 yamaha motor and 2nd prizes 20 tv). In order to qualify for the lucky draw coupon, a shopper needs to purchase RM30 of its products. For every RM30, you will get 1 coupon. What is interesting here is that you can accumulate the receipts for the same day.Ex. today 1.oopm buy RM10, today 5pm-RM20. Combine the receipts and get a coupon.As usual, you will be able to find a lot of receipts lying on the floor and trolleys(parking lot,near the cashier etc).Dont pick up any receipt that has been chopped with the words "contest redemption".The coupon also comes with "a gores and dapat diskaun for certain products" section.If you are lucky , you might get a free box drink. Apart from that, in the gores thing, instead of discounts, you might get points that can be used to redeem things. the minimum points to redeem something is 50.

Today, it is a very common thing for stores to issue loyalty or discount cards to their customers in order to retain them.In SengHeng's case the card is called Plus One. However, in order to obtain the card, customers need to pay annual fees. With this card, customers will be able to collect points( can redeem for things in the store) based on their purchasing amount and also enjoy discounts when purchasing products from the store.Apart from that, the cardholder will also be entitled to an extra year of warranty for the product purchases. For example, if you purchase a fridge that is priced at RM599(price shown on the price tag), you might get RM50 discount.

However, there's a way for you to get the discount and extra year of warranty without obtaining the card.When you enter the store , a sales assistant will definitely follow you. Try to isolate the sales assistant from the rest of the staff.When looking at the price of the product that you want to purchase, tell the sales assistant that you are able to purchase the same product for a cheaper price(somewhere else) and if he is willing to give a discount, you will purchase the product from Seng Heng/Him.Chances are, after acting like a tough customer, the sales assistant will give you the discount enjoyed by the PLUS ONE card holders. What he will do is to purchase the product under a cardholder's name.(the card holder's name can be retrieved from their database). So, eventhough the name on the receipt is not yours, you will still be able to enjoy the discount and warranty.

Currently, Tesco is having Purchase with purchase(PWP) deals. That is to say, if you have purchsed more than RM50 from the hypermarket, you will be entitled to purchased a product at a discounted rate. The products will change from week to week. It may be dish washer, softdrinks, detergent and so forth. However, i am sure that there are tons of receipts(worth more than RM50) lying around in Tesco's Parking lot and in the trolleys. You can even use the same receipts which you have used to redeem the RM1 vouchers, to purchase the PWP products. However, do not pick up receipts which have pen marking on them.So, i guess one does not need to purchase more than RM50 to get better deals.

If you look around you when you are hanging around big shopping complexes, you will be able to see that there are a lot of organisations which are giving away free things without any purchases.Currently, there are a lot of banks which are agressively promoting their credit cards.Most of the banks are having roadshows throughout Malaysia(mostly in shopping complexes like Giant,Tesco,Carrefour,Mid valley etc). what is interesting here is that they are giving out free gifts on the spot, if you sign up for the card. It doesn't matter whether your your application is approved or not.
If you are an existing credit card member(more than a year), you do not need to have your pay slip to apply for the card. The bank representative will photostat a copy of your card and IC.
If you are not an existing member of any credit card, just bring along the latest 3 month of your payslip. in order to qualify , you need to have an annual income of more than RM18,000.

Among some of the cards and the gifts which are offered are:

HSBC- small calculator cum clock
RHB-pizza hut voucher or Peugot pouch or calculator .
OCBC and southern bank: massager.

So, keep your eyes open for the roadshows.

Ok, tesco will give you the RM1 voucher for every RM 30 that you purchase. In order to redeem the voucher, you need to show the receipt to the voucher counter which is located near the cashier machine. So,if you walk around the parking lot of Tesco, you will be able to find lots of receipt with purchases of more than RM30.Do not pick up receipts that have the stamp "redeemed" chopped on them.They have been issued with the vouchers already. In order to increase the chances of locating the qualified receipts , i would recommend that you walk in the parking lot during the peak hours of shopping. Sat- evening, sun- afternoon and evening.
